Ingredients you need for the Garlic Green Beans
Directions
1. To make the green beans recipe: Rinse and trim the green beans, then chop in small pieces. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
2. Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Drain and soak in ice-cold water to stop the cooking, then drain the green beans once more. This step is optional.
3. Heat the butter and oil in a large pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Saute the chopped onion until fragrant and translucent.
4. Add the green beans and garlic and sauté with the onion until crisp-tender – about 3 minutes.
5. Once green beans are crisp-tender, add hot sauce, lemon juice, chopped parsley, red chili pepper flakes, and black pepper. Cook until the mixture becomes golden and slightly caramelized – about 4 minutes.
6. Deglaze the green beans with the vegetable stock and cook for 2 minutes, to reduce the sauce slightly.
7. Season the cooked green beans generously with salt and pepper, to taste, sprinkle with remaining parsley, and serve the sauteed green beans immediately. Enjoy!

How to enhance the flavor of green beans?
Green beans are easy to prepare and versatile when cooking a simple side dish everyone loves. You can steam, sauté, roast, grill, or simmer them. Here are a few ideas to enhance their flavor:
- Add herbs and spices such as garlic, onion, thyme, oregano, or French herbs to add extra flavor to green beans.
- Drizzle green beans with olive oil to give them a richer, more intense flavor – especially when roasting.
- Toast some nuts, such as almonds, walnuts, or pinenuts, and sprinkle over the green beans at the end of cooking.
- Braise the beans in a combination of white wine and chicken or vegetable stock for an intensely flavored side dish.
- Top the green beans with grated parmesan cheese.
- Lemon, lime, or orange zest can add a bright tang to your green beans side dish.
- Add bacon or pancetta to green beans for a savory twist on a classic side dish.
- Sauté the green beans with mushrooms, shallots, and garlic for an earthy, umami-rich flavor.
