How to cook green beans

We find it is super easy to cook green beans this way for a delicious, hassle-free side dish:

Pre-boil the green beans in boiling water (this step is called blanching), then sauté the green beans in a skillet with oil and butter. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until garlic is fragrant. Remove from heat and sprinkle red chili pepper flakes and parmesan.

Sautéeing green beans in a mixture of butter and oil ensures the butter doesn’t burn while cooking.

Do we have to blanch the green beans?

No, you can always throw the green beans in the skillet and cook them from scratch without blanching first. But we found the texture and color are better when you blanch the green beans.

What to do with the green beans leftovers?

You can keep the garlic parmesan green beans for up to 3 days in an airtight container in your refrigerator. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop.
