Tips for the crockpot beef stew recipe
- If you have some time available, you can brown the ground beef in a skillet with salt and pepper before adding it to the slow cooker. This makes the dish deeper in flavor.
- To give the crockpot beef stew even more complexity, consider adding red wine or dry white wine. One cup should be sufficient.
- If you find the sauce is too thin or you like a thick stew, you can use a cornstarch slurry (equal parts cornstarch and water) and add it in at the end. Allow the crockpot beef stew to cook about 10 minutes after adding the slurry to get rid of the starchy flavor.
How and How long to keep the crockpot beef stew leftovers?
This crockpot ground beef stew recipe will keep for 3 days in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stove, adding a tablespoon of water to loosen the sauce. The slow cooker beef stew freezes very well so you can make plenty for those quick-fix weeknight meals. Keep the beef stew in the freezer for 4 months maximum.

This was delicious. I did brown the meat & onions. I also added a can of tomato soup. I served it over linguini.
