Tips for the chicken noodle soup recipe

This creamy chicken pasta soup is quick and super easy to prepare. It’s heartwarming, delicious, and loved by everyone who tries it! Here are a few tips to make the best chicken pasta soup ever!

  • This soup is loaded with tender shredded chicken, plump pasta, and healthy vegetables. Feel free to customize the recipe and add your favorite veggies like tomato, mushrooms, or even chopped leeks!
  • If your chicken pasta soup is too thick once it’s done, simply add more chicken stock in small increments until reaching your desired consistency.
  • You can spice up the chicken soup with a tablespoon of Sriracha.
  • If you like a thinner chicken pasta soup, you can cook pasta on the side, add it to the soup at the end, and reheat before serving.

What other pasta is best for chicken soup?

Traditional egg noodles, broken spaghetti, rotini, macaroni, or whatever you have on hand! This chicken pasta soup recipe is very forgiving, so you can use whatever pasta you like.

Can we make this pasta soup lower in carbs?

Yes! Instead of noodles, you can add zucchini noodles or sweet potato noodles for a lower-carb option. Toss them toward the end of cooking time, so they can absorb some juice without breaking up.

Can we make this chicken pasta soup ahead of time?

You can prepare this chicken pasta soup in advance and store it in the fridge, but do not add the pasta until you are serving it. Adding the noodles or pasta to the chicken soup before serving will swell up and become mushy. So add the pasta when you reheat the soup for serving, and adjust the consistency with more chicken stock if necessary.

Also, remember that this soup won’t freeze well because it contains dairy, which tends to separate and curdle when reheated.

What other readers are saying about this chicken pasta soup recipe

“This soup is so yummy! I cooked the pasta separately, spooned so into each bowl then ladled soup over it. This way the pasta didn’t absorb all the liquid when it was in the fridge overnight! You can even eat this soup without pasta, it’s that good.” – Christina

“Made this for Sunday dinner. It is very easy and really very quick to make. My men loved it. All of them!” – Jalee

“Everyone loved it and that never happens! I had to add more broth because the noodles really soaked it up but it was soooo good!” – Bonnie

“Super easy to make! A big hit with the kids.” – Iris

Needs More liquid to be a soup and not just noodles with chicken and veggies. Turned out good in the end I added 2 cans of broth (29oz) and should have added more to make it a soup. I like carrots so used 2 cups. I added the cheddar on top at then end since it was already so thick. I used more like 1 cup of heavy cream and I used egg noodles. Turned out good followed all other instructions.

My husbands new favorite soup. Changed a bit. 5 cups of broth, half the cream cheese, maybe 1.3 Cups of ditalini. Perfect consistency. But have to stir constantly after adding the pasta and cheddar. Spices added…celery salt, thyme, turmeric to taste. Very, very good!

This tasted great, but we made it and served it immediately, and 2 cups of the pasta turned this into a creamy, thick, no-liquid, mac & cheese!!! lol I don't know what we did wrong, but it wasn't a soup at all. Any ideas?? I think we will try it again and only use one cup of dry ditalini and see if that fixes it. Or just do the pasta completely separate and add some to our bowls when serving.

This was delicious. I used 1 puck of garlic and herb Boursin cheese instead of the cream cheese. It was sooooo sooooo good. Thanks
