What are the best methods for cooking shrimp

Shrimp is super simple to prepare and cook pretty fast. Here are the best methods to turn humble shrimp into a great dinner:

  • Boiling: Boiling is a simple and quick way to cook shrimp. Place the shrimp in a pot of boiling water, season as desired, and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  • Grilling: Toss the shelled shrimp with oil and spices, then thread them onto metal skewers. Grill over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side or until cooked through.
  • Pan-Frying: Heat some oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add your shrimp, seasonings, and vegetables if desired, and cook for 3-4 minutes, flipping once halfway through.
  • Baking: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180ºC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the shrimp in a single layer. Bake the shrimp for 8-10 minutes or until cooked through.

  • Buy from a reputable source: If you’re buying shrimp from a seafood counter, ask the person behind the counter for information about where the shrimp were harvested and when it was caught.
  • Consider wild-caught shrimp: We recommend buying wild-caught shrimp, which are generally considered to be a healthier option than farm-raised shrimp. Wild-caught shrimp are typically higher in omega-3 fatty acids and lower in contaminants than their farm-raised counterparts.
