Tips for the slow cooker cream cheese crack chicken soup recipe
This slow cooker crack chicken soup recipe is loaded with incredible cheesy flavor! This is the ultimate comfort food, prepared with bacon, chicken, cream cheese, cheddar, spinach, and ranch seasoning. Here are a few tips to make it perfect:
- You can add more chicken broth to make the soup thinner if you prefer. We usually use between 4 and 6 cups of liquid for a 6-quart slow cooker.
- We tried this crack chicken soup with reduced-fat cream cheese instead of regular cream cheese and it worked quite well.
- If the cream cheese gets clumpy in the soup, use a whisk to get it incorporated into the broth. Alternatively, when you start cooking, you can warm up the chicken broth and stir the cream cheese progressively before pouring it over the chicken in the slow cooker. In some occurrences, the cream cheese can separate into chicken soup. This is not necessarily pretty, but it doesn’t alter the taste!
- You can use turkey bacon instead of regular pork bacon for the topping.
What other veggies can we add to the slow cooker crack chicken soup?
Small broccoli florets, chopped celery, cauliflower, or kale would make nice additions to this slow cooker chicken soup for sure.
How to make your own ranch dressing mix
If you want to make your own ranch seasoning mix, especially if you are doing strict Keto – some Dry Ranch Seasoning packets may contain sugar: Combine dry buttermilk powder, dried parsley, dry dill, dried chives, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and ground black pepper. Vary the amounts depending on your taste.
What other cuts can we use for this chicken soup?
You can use skinless, boneless chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts for this slow cooker crack chicken soup. They are cheap and flavorful; however, note that they render more fat.
How and how long to keep the slow cooker crack chicken soup leftovers?
This slow cooker crack chicken soup keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in an airtight container. Reheat gently on the stove with a few drops of water to loosen the soup. You can also freeze the soup for up to one month.

Great flavor but like previously mentioned, really liquid-y, I was hoping for a more creamer base. Will make again but won't let the chicken cook as long, reduce the broth and will add a little thickener like corn starch.

Hmm it turned out really liquid-y, good but thought it would be more creamy

I’m trying this today! But you include chili powder in the ingredients and then it isn’t mentioned in the instructions. I’m assuming I’m including it in step 1.
