- We used elbow pasta for this chicken pasta soup. They make the soup feel really hearty, but feel free to use other varieties such as rotini or penne. They will soak up more of the delicious broth!

How and how long to store the chicken pasta soup
Nothing beats a big pot of chicken soup and enjoying it throughout the week. As we already said, if the soup is stored too long, the pasta will turn mushy. Keep the soup for up to 2 days in the refrigerator. If you plan to keep it longer, store the soup and pasta separately and add pasta back when reheating the chicken soup. To reheat the chicken pasta soup, recombine the pasta and soup in a pot or a large microwave-safe bowl and heat to the desired temperature on the stovetop or in the microwave. You may need to add a little chicken broth after the soup is stored in the refrigerator for a day or two. If you use uncooked noodles, reheat the soup on the stove until the mixture boils and noodles are tender.
