Directions

1. To make the grilled figs with bacon: Cook bacon pieces in a large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat, stirring often, until brown and crisp, 8–10 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer crispy bacon to a small bowl lined with paper towels to absorb excess fat.

2. Pour off all but 2 tablespoons of bacon fat from the skillet; save for another use. Add the maple syrup to the skillet, stir with a wooden spoon, and heat over medium-high. Arrange the halved figs in a single layer, cut side down. Cook the figs, swirling the liquid occasionally, until the figs are slightly softened and caramelized, about 5 minutes.

3. Remove the figs from the skillet, arrange the cut side up on a platter, and top with pieces of crispy bacon, almonds, and pecans.

4. Set the skillet over medium heat, add the sherry vinegar, and stir into juices. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce gets syrupy, about 1 minute. Drizzle the syrup over the grilled figs, then sprinkle with red pepper. Serve immediately – Enjoy!
