Everything can be recycled you know? As you already noted, I love to use these small glass jars (100 to 200ml I think) that used to contain foie gras or confit. I like to store them and use them to make egg casseroles or custards. Many advantages: transparent and robust they are also oven proof, close the lid to keep the little custards in the fridge!
You can find little glass jars here on amazon.
Today we’ll make a very simple and easy chocolate custard.
Ingredients: Chocolate custards
For 4 people:
- 1/4 cup (30g) sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup (25cl) of milk
- 1 1/2 ounces (40g) chocolate
Cooking instructions
Preheat your oven to 360°F (180°c).
Whisk 1/4 cup (30g) of sugar with 2 eggs.
Cut chocolate into pieces to melt properly while heating 1 cup (25cl) of milk. Then pour chocolate in the milk and mix well
Pour the sugar/egg mixture into the milk and chocolate, whisking constantly.
Divide among 4 small glass jars and bake in a bain marie (hot start) for 15 minutes.
Let the custards cool before keeping in the fridge until serving time.
