How long does it take to cook pork tenderloin in the oven?

To cook a pork tenderloin in the oven, count approximately 25-30 minutes at 350ºF (180ºC). We like baking pork tenderloin in a  very hot oven, like 400ºF (200ºC) in some recipes, so cooking will be much shorter. If you have previously pan-seared the pork tenderloin, it can cook for a shorter time. Always check the internal temperature of the pork tenderloin on an instant-read thermometer – it should prompt 145°F (62ºC) when done.

What’s the difference between pork tenderloin and pork loin?

Pork tenderloin is a much smaller cut of meat than pork loin. The pork tenderloin is a long, thin cut of pork that is a muscle underneath the backbone of the pig. Pork tenderloin is very lean and has less marbling, so it cooks pretty quickly. Pork loin is a wide, flat, rectangular cut of pork, usually prepared as a roast. It’s also very lean, so you shouldn’t roast it at too high temperatures or it will dry out. When you cook it right, at a low temperature, and for not too long a time, pork loin is very tender.
