Tips for cooking shrimps

  • We like to use jumbo 16/20 size shrimp for most of our recipes, but you could use any size really. Adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • You can use shrimp with tails on or off. On Eatwell101, we tend to keep ours on for a visual impact as they photograph better ;).
  • Try to find fresh wild-caught shrimp. Frozen shrimp is good too, but fresh will always have a better flavor.
  • When buying frozen shrimp, choose those that are already deveined. Their shell is easier to remove once thawed.
  • Thaw frozen shrimp overnight in the refrigerator; or if you’re in a rush, soak in cold water and change the water every 5 minutes.
