1. To make the creamy beef pasta: Cook the pasta shells al dente according to the package directions; drain and set aside.

2. In a large skillet, heat a little oil and brown the ground beef with black pepper over medium heat until brown.

3. Remove the excess grease from the cooked meat and then stir in the salsa and cream cheese. Simmer for a few minutes until the sauce is well combined, adding beef stock progressively. Add cheese and stir constantly until melted and the sauce is smooth. Add more beef stock if necessary.

4. Gently toss your cooked pasta in with the meat sauce mixture and continue cooking on medium-low so the pasta can soak up a little of the sauce.

5. Remove the skillet for heat and sprinkle the creamy beef pasta with fresh chopped parsley and more cheese, if you like. Serve immediately. Enjoy! ❤️

Tips for the creamy beef pasta recipe

This cheesy meat pasta recipe will feed quite a large group, but leftovers can be reheated easily and are as good for lunch or dinner the next day. Here are a couple of tips to make your cheese pasta and meat sauce even better.

  • Make sure you’re using a large and deep skillet for this because it makes a large batch to nourish a crowd.
  • You can easily substitute in ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef if you like.
  • You can sauté some minced onion to add a little more flavor to the beef pasta recipe.

Can I use another pasta shape instead of pasta shells?

You can use any type of pasta, but we advise you to opt for a short pasta shape that holds well the sauce. Rotini or penne would make great options.

What sauce can I substitute for the creamy beef pasta recipe?

A mild or spicy salsa sauce is delicious in this beef pasta recipe, but you can make it more Italian-style using marinara sauce, or any other tomato sauce you like.

How to reheat the pasta and meat sauce?

Preheat your oven to 300ºF (140ºC) and reheat our pasta leftovers covered with foil for 15 or 20 minutes. A quick reheat uncovered in the microwave or on the stovetop is also a good option. Add a few drops of water to loosen the sauce.

Can we freeze the creamy beef pasta?

Sure you can, but male sure to follow these few tips so your pasta doesn’t get mushy:

  • Freeze the sauce only and add the pasta the day you’re planning on serving the creamy beef pasta.
  • If you make the whole beef pasta recipe and have leftover to freeze, allow the dish to come up to room temperature before heating back up. Otherwise, the pasta will break up when you start stirring and the while pasta dish will get mushy.

Did not have salsa so left it out! We loved it. I did add 1 cup of shredded cheese. So good! Next time I will try with salsa

I had to use Rotel since I didn't have salsa. But I think it lacked seasoning. Will try again with seasinknf the meat with cumin while it cooks or try adding taco seasoning into the cream cheese/salsa mixture.
