Directions
1. To make the grilled bok choy: Preheat your outdoor grill to medium-high heat, and lightly oil the grate. Cut the stalks lengthwise and rinse well, then pat dry to remove any excess water. In a small bowl, mix together the butter, garlic, ginger, lemon juice, olive oil, sesame oil, and soy sauce until well combined.
2. Arrange the bok choy, cut side down, on the grill grate, and grill for about 5 minutes, until golden brown on the underside. Turn the bok choy with tongs and grill for 5 to 6 minutes more until golden and crisp-tender. The bok choy stalks should show grill marks and the leaves should be crisp at the edges.
3. Transfer the grilled bok choy to a serving platter and brush generously with the garlic-ginger mixture. The butter in the mixture will finish melting over the hot bok choy. Garnish with lemon slices, cilantro, and red chili pepper flakes if you like. Serve the grilled bok choy immediately. Enjoy! ❤️

Tips for the grilled bok choy recipe
- Here we use baby bok choy for this recipe. We recommend cutting it into quarters to expedite cooking time if you use regular bok choy, which is larger in size.
- Feel free to add a kick of spices by adding a teaspoon of Sriracha to the sauce, or sprinkle the grilled bok choy with red chili pepper flakes.
- If you have a grilling basket, you can use it so the leaves don’t fall below the grill grates. But you shouldn’t have this problem if you arrange the bok choy perpendicularly across the grill.
What parts of bok choy are edible?
The great thing about cooking with bok choy is that both the leaves and the stalks can be eaten.
How to get rid of the bitterness of bok choy?
Grilling is one of the best ways to remove the bitter flavor of bok choy, giving it a nice smoky flavor. The garlic-ginger sauce with butter also helps to roundup the flavor.
How to keep the grilled bok choy leftovers
You can keep any grilled bok choy leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat covered in the oven, or microwave.
