What is cod?
Cod is a mild white fish with a meaty texture. Cod usually doesn’t have that fishy taste to it, unlike Tilapia for instance. A cod filet is full of texture and flavor and tastes delicious with any type of seasonings. Cod can also be cooked in several different ways: baked, pan-seared, grilled, etc…
How to bake cod
To bake cod fillets in an oven, prepare a baking dish. We like white ceramic for the pictures, but glass is perfectly fine! The perfect temperature for baking codfish is 400°F (200°C).
Arrange the cod fillets in the baking dish; sprinkle with spices, then add a drizzle of olive oil and lemon juice.
How long to bake cod? Count 10 – 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your cod fillets. Do not bake for too long because the fish might become rubbery.

What to serve with the baked cod fillets?
You can serve the baked cod with rice and a spinach salad as we did in the pictures, or boiled potatoes so as to not overpower the taste of fish. For a healthy dinner, try steamed cauliflower rice, or blanched asparagus.
How to keep the baked codfish leftovers
Place the baked cod leftovers in an airtight container and store them for up to 2 days in your refrigerator. Alternatively, you can store the baked cod fillets for up to 1 month in the freezer; thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating. Reheat the cod in the oven for about 10 minutes at 350ºF (180ºC) unit heated through. Be sure you are reheating the fish until just warmed through.
