1. Learn more about Chestnuts

Chestnuts are energy foods that taste sweet. 100 grams of chestnuts has about 200 calories or 5 times the energy intake of potatoes. Preparing chestnuts in a recipe does not require much expertise.

2. How to cook chestnuts

Cooking chestnuts can be done following three different methods:

  • In water
  • In the oven
  • In a pan

Boiling is the simplest method. Just dip the chestnuts in a saucepan of cold water and bring to a boil for 3 minutes. Finish the preparation by passing the chestnuts in cold water. If you prefer baking, begin making cuts into the brown section before putting them in the oven for about 20 minutes.

Finish the preparation by peeling the thin film that covers the fruit. The last method requires the use of a stove for roasting chestnuts whole. Before using a recipe for chestnuts roasted or boiled, they should be peeled. To this end, the removal of the film must be when the chestnuts are hot.
