Chestnuts are ingredients that can be used in the preparation of:

5. Precautions purchase and conservation of chestnut

When purchasing, you should check that your chestnuts are free of chemicals. Indeed, there are exotic varieties of chestnuts that have been treated with methyl bromide. The latter is a dangerous gas that is sometimes used for preservation of these products. In addition, the fruit should be bright in appearance and the hull must be free of lesions.

The chestnuts can be stored in three ways: in the refrigerator, freezer and canned. You can keep within 15 days in the refrigerator. For longer storage, freeze them simply, with skin peeled beforehand. You can also package them as preserves. Just before preparing, if you want to get brown fluffy, just wrap them in newspaper.

Chestnuts have a sweet taste. To this end, one could consider using it in sweet dishes.Indeed, there are preparations of brown that are used in baking. It is also possible to make jam or brown foam.
