Let’s make some french toasts with our last teatime leftovers. Forgotten bread or drying brioche slices allow to express our greediness with two advantages: it is very easy to do and in record of time.
For this recipe, we’ll use some old and hard gingerbread that we’ll turn into a super soft and fragrant dessert!
Ingredients for the gingerbread heart toasts
For 4 peoples
- 8 slices of gingerbread
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup (20 cl) of milk
- 3/4 ounce (20 g) of honey or sugar
- 2 tbsp (30 g) butter
- A pomegranate fruit and icing sugar for decoration
I used readymade gingerbread but your welcome if you want to do it by yourself.
Instructions
Using a cookie cutter, cut 8 sliced hearts in the gingerbread.
Mix the eggs with milk and honey (or sugar) with a fork.
Soak the gingerbread slices in the coating mixture.
Put the butter to melt in a non-stick pan and add the previously drained hearts.
Sear them quickly on both sides before letting them cook for 5 minutes on each side (10 minutes total) over low heat: it will caramelize the outside and the inside will remain soft…
I suggest you serve it at teatime with icing sugar and accompanied by beautiful pomegranate seeds…
