After Tangerine Tango in 2012, Emerald Green was elected color of the year for 2013 by Pantone, the famous color brand. But how to integrate this classy green in the kitchen?

Emerald green – what is it?

According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, the emerald color is associated with “clarity, renewal and rejuvenation”. This symbolic meaning turns now into fashion, makeup… and invites itself in our home.

Add unexpected pops of color with paint

The elegance of this color can be applied to a wall. Dare to create some contrast by painting just one wall in your kitchen for a simple and natural look. This will increase the effect of light and give a full glare of emerald green on the adjacent walls.

Why not a green backsplash?

Emerald green is a very sweet color to watch. Its deepness is particularly suitable for a credenza. Create emphasis by contrasting with a simple kitchen floor (wooden floor for example, or a fairly neutral tiling) and more colorful elements of the room (yellow, blue). Prices vary depending on the material and design patterns, but the biggest brands have already taken note of this new trend and great shopping opportunities to suit all budgets are sure to arise !

Create a subtle emerald green theme with kitchen accessories

If you do not feel like revamping your kitchen as soon as the new color of the year is announced, you can still acquire objects and accessories in this color. This year, emerald comes in cups, light fixture shades, cookware, small appliances or chairs.
