I Want A Traditional Christmas Table Decoration!

Traditionnal Christmas Table Decoration Ideas - How to Make a Christmas Table Decoration

Christmas dinner does not necessarily need to be celebrated in the glitz and glitter. A traditional Christmas decoration all in red and green will be perfect! The traditional Christmas decor is a set of colorful accessories, mostly red, from various materials such as wood or wool and lace. The key is to successfully combine all without looking too busy.

Candles and lanterns are your allies

The goal is to recreate a warm and intimate atmosphere, reminiscent of the evenings by the fire before the Internet and mobile phones era. To do this, nothing better than to rely on the lighting and the use of candles. Candles are made according to your desires and above all depending on what you have in your closet: candlestick or candle and candler holders, whatever will be perfect! If you haven’t any of this, do not panic, recycle shot glasses or small glass jars with tea lights. Concerning colors, you can play the sobriety and put elegant white candles or add a touch of color and select voluptuous red candle holders. But be careful how you arrange them on the table. The best place is still the centerpiece, then if the configuration permits it, you can put some on a buffet or any other piece of furniture that would be around the table. This will enlighten the scene and add depth to your global composition.

Staging

You can dare a plain red or white tablecloth with a nice red table runner. If you do not like table runners, play with individual placemats with contrasting colors. You can play similarly for towels (especially avoid those paper towel for Christmas!). If you have the ability and desire, have a few pine or holly branches at the center of the table, surrounding candlesticks and other candleholders.

How to choose dishes

As for the tableware, marrying red and white plates seems to be the best combination for a traditional atmosphere. Avoid forms that are too modern for side dishes, so keep your brand new stylish square plates for another occasion! It is best to stay in the round, whether for plates or glasses. Feel free to set the dishes you find a bit dated, this “outdated” look will be perfect for a traditional decor. If in addition, they have a small red border or pattern around (shapes, characters, etc… example here) That’s great! For the main course, you can serve in a red casserole. This will highlight your dish. For coverage, we can dare to use most current designs to give tradition a contemporary twist!

Nice jugs for beverages

At Christmas we ban bottles from the table and serve wine and other bottled water in beautiful wine decanters and carafes! Have a good look in your closet or ask Grandma if she would  have one or two of it, it will bring even more cachet! Otherwise, many decorative items brands sell these products, so this is not a problem. One again, a little green touch with pine branches or holly leaves arranged in a centerpiece will bring the magic!
