What you’ll need
- An Ikea Torsby tabletop 53×33-inch / 135x85cm ($99.00)
- 4 taper round legs, 6-inch ($2.48 each on Amazon, you can also find them in any hardware store)
- 4 straight top hardware plates with screws ($6.91 each on Amazon, or in any hardware store).
- A screwdriver
- A small ruler
- A hammer, optional
Directions
1. Prepare your work surface: lay a blanket on the floor and return the Ikea tabletop upside down. Keep the blue plastic sheet to protect from scratches.
2. Measure the placement for the plates: we counted 7 – 8 inches from the edges of the tabletop. It is important because if the feet are too close from the edges, the tabletop might curb under its own weight (it’s MDF, not hardwood remember).
3. Screw the plates on each corner. Make sure your screws are shorter that the thickness of the tabletop. If unsure, use flat washers. If you find the laminate surface is hard to pierce, you can gently hit the screw with a hammer before screwing.
4. Screw and secure each foot into its plate.
5. Turn your table over. Peel the blue protection sheet, and voilà!
