Directions
1. Using a nutcracker, carefully open a walnut along its vertical seam.
2. Quickly sand the walnut shells to increase adherence of the paint. Flatten the bottom of the shell by rubbing it on the sand paper to improve stability.
3. Coat the exterior of the shells with a first layer of white paint and allow to dry for 30 minutes.
4. Apply a second coat and let dry. Fill the empty halves with kosher salt and freshly ground pepper for each place setting.
