  • Wrap dough in plastic wrap and let rest for half an hour in the fridge.

4. Easy recipe for Alsatian tart

If this is your first Alsatian tart, start with an apple pie. It includes several steps that will guide you to succeed more pies. Here are the ingredients you need to learn this recipe for apple pie in Alsace:

For the pastry:

  •  2 1/2 cups (250 g) of flour,
  • 1/2 cup (125 g) of unsalted butter,
  • a pinch of salt,
  • a tablespoon of sugar (20 g),
  • 3 tablespoons of ice water.

For the filling:

  • 4 large apples or 1 kg of Granny Smith,
  • peeled,
  • cored and cut into wedges,
  • 2 tablespoons of vanilla sugar,
  • 2 eggs,
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) cream,
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) of milk.

With regard to the preparation, you should prepare the pastry and spread it into a mold previously buttered and floured. Prick the bottom with a fork and place the dough in a circle on the apple wedges. Sprinkle a tablespoon of sugar and put in an oven preheated to 360°F (180°C) for 10 minutes or until the apple slices are tender.
